St. Johns, NewFoundland, Canada Trip - I

My journey to St. John’s, NewFoundland, Canada comprises of 2 stopovers. Albuquerque-Minneapolis-Newark-St. John’s.

I had a very interesting conversation with Alex Erikson, executive director of Urban Ballet Theater, in my flight from Albuquerque to Minneapolis. He is coming to Socorro on Nov 4th to conduct a ballet. I wanted to withdraw cash from the ATM machine in Albuquerque International Airport. But, the Bank of America ATM machine in Albuquerque is out of order.

I reached St. Paul’s International airport in Minneapolis on time. I went to a gift shop here and bought Moose soft toys. The wireless in St Pauls International airport does not allow free access to the Internet. They seem to have a tie-up with some companies (Boingo, GRIC, Ibahn, iPASS, Remote Pipes, SBC, Sprint, T-Mobile, WeRoam, and Wise). There was no Bank Of America ATM in St. Paul’s International Airport either. I ended up drawing money from US Bank ATM machine. Northwest airlines did not serve any food. I was hungry. I went to Quizno’s Sub and had a Tuna sandwich.

The flight from Minneapolis to Newark was a Continental express jet flight small flight, which was small in terms of size and not comfortable. I had to take the same flight to St. John’s too. Regarding browsing in Newark Liberty airport, it was the same situation like in Minneapolis. I registered myself at the US-VISIT self service station. Then, I got to talk to an elderly Indian couple who speak only Malayalam and Hindi and showed them directions to Air India terminal in Newark.

I finally reach St. John’s at 11:08 pm. It just stopped raining. I could not find any currency converter at that time in the airport. I went to Visa ATM machine and got some money. Took a taxi to my hotel and crashed. It was a very tiresome journey.
