We (Indian students) celebrated Ganesha Chaturdhi in Srinivas’s house. He had installed a statue of the deity in his house. It was an hour long ritual. The divine was offered flowers, fruits (plums), coconut, coconut water, and rice-turmeric mixture. Mantras were chanted, a story praising Lord Ganesha was told, a song of admiration was sung, and everybody offered their obeisance to the Lord. We took Prasad after prayer.
