The new postal pricing is in effect from today. The following is an excerpt from The AP:
For a first-class card or letter the rate taking effect Monday is 41 cents for the first ounce, a 2-cent increase. But the cost for each additional ounce drops to 17 cents, so heavier letters will be cheaper than before.
As of this posting, 4 new stamps are available on 41 cents.
Forever (Liberty Bell) ND
Settlement of Jamestown
Horses Stamped Envelopes
Bighorn Sheep
The novel thing about this price change is the introduction of forever stamp. Click on the Forever stamp image above. You will notice that instead of the price, a word "FOREVER" is inscribed. This stamp "will always be valid as First-Class postage on standard envelopes weighing one ounce or less, regardless of any subsequent increases in the First-Class rate." So, this means that it provides protection from further increase in postage rates. So, you can play smart by buying the forever stamps. When the price goes up, which will happen eventually, you would have made a good deal.
