Looks like Sectarianism has seeped into educational institutions.
No! I am not talking about Iraq. This happened in Beirut, capital city of Lebanon.
A minor tussle in Beirut University cafeteria escalated into a sectarian violence and people took over to the streets. It is high time that people should realize that they should not discuss politics in educational institutions. It is such a shame that the violence extended to such heights and they ended up firing M-16s.

i know politics has become synonymous with somthing bad. i dont think discussing politics in the educational institutions is a bad thing or the reason for the violence. i would say its rather not discussing it. i would say the media (tv/radio) which put a black and white picture of good and evil is the main reason.
politicians play a good part in it too. but i think educated people should try to change the perceptions of people that are easily molded by these media and politicians. and discussing it should be a start.
The media did not cause the violence. The people who were fanatics caused it all. It's just my two cents.
